A Sustainable Vision for Hockey
Winmark Corporation announced a three‑year extension of its partnership with CCM Hockey, reinforcing a shared commitment to affordability and circularity in the sport. The extension builds on a program that enables families to trade in used gear at Play It Again Sports franchises and purchase certified pre‑owned equipment at reduced prices.
Since the initiative launched in 2023, more than 300,000 pieces of hockey equipment have changed hands through the network, diverting waste from landfills and lowering the financial barrier for newcomers. The model aligns with Winmark’s broader focus on sustainable small‑business franchising.
A Global Brand with a Local Impact
CCM Hockey, a leading designer and manufacturer of protective equipment, operates in Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia, equipping professionals such as Auston Matthews, Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid and Matt Dumba. The company’s reputation for performance and innovation has made it the official outfitter of the American Hockey League and the Canadian Hockey League.
Renae Gaudette, Chief Operating Officer at Winmark, highlighted the partnership’s role in making the sport more accessible, stating that extending the collaboration "ensures families can enjoy high‑quality hockey gear without compromising on cost or the environment."
The extended agreement also underscores the importance of community‑driven solutions. By integrating resale channels with major hockey equipment brands, the partnership creates a continuous loop that benefits players, families and the planet alike.
