A historic step for Maine athletics
Saint Joseph's College of Maine has announced that it will field a varsity women's flag football team beginning in the spring of 2028, becoming the first institution in the state to sponsor the sport at the NCAA level.
The college is now seeking its inaugural head coach to design and launch the program from the ground up. The position is a full‑time, 11‑month appointment that will encompass recruiting, student‑athlete development, practice planning, game management and overall program administration.
Prospective coaches must hold a bachelor's degree and demonstrate a solid understanding of flag football rules and strategy. While prior coaching and recruiting experience is preferred, the college is open to candidates who can articulate a clear vision for building a competitive team.
