Jenn Wishart appointed head coach of Calgary Dinos field hockey team

Former Dinos player returns to lead program after a decade of service

Calgary native Jenn Wishart has been appointed head coach of the University of Calgary Dinos field hockey team, taking the reins after nearly a decade that began as a student‑athlete and continued as an assistant coach.

A homecoming for a rising coach

Wishart spent five seasons as a Dinos player from 2017 to 2021, earning the Canada West Outstanding Contributor Award in 2021 and multiple U SPORTS Academic All‑Canadian honors.

After graduating, she joined the coaching staff in 2023, taking on duties that included practice planning, video analysis, and recruiting while supporting the team’s day‑to‑day operations.

Her coaching experience extends beyond the university, with roles at Field Hockey Canada, the Calgary training centre for the women’s NextGen program, and as an assistant coach for Canada’s U16 youth team that competed in Poznań, Poland, this spring.

Wishart has also guided athletes at Field Hockey Alberta, the Cougars Field Hockey Club, Legacy Academy, and several Calgary high schools, blending grassroots development with elite performance.

Outside of hockey, she works as a high school teacher, holding degrees in education and kinesiology from the University of Calgary, and she will make her head‑coaching debut on September 12 when the Dinos open the 2026 season against the Victoria Vikes at Hawkings Field.
