Jalen Price, a three‑star defensive lineman from Cedar Hill, Texas, announced his commitment to Kansas State on Wednesday, choosing the Wildcats over a slate of Power Five programs that included Oklahoma State, Baylor, Auburn, Mississippi State and others.
The 6‑foot‑3, 250‑pound prospect, ranked No. 126 among defensive linemen and No. 1,054 overall by the 247Sports Composite, will join a 2027 class that currently sits at No. 28 nationally.
Price’s decision marks a reversal from his earlier pledge to Baylor, which he decommitted from on May 23 after a brief verbal agreement. He had visited the Manhattan campus from June 12‑14, touring the facilities and meeting with coaches before making his final choice.
He will arrive on campus as a teammate of fellow 2027 commit Jeron Allen, a relationship that could shape the defensive line’s chemistry in the coming years.
The addition of Price is expected to bolster the Wildcats’ front seven, giving the staff a high‑upside interior presence that could rise quickly in the depth chart.
Coaches have praised his size, work ethic and ability to disrupt the pocket, traits that align with the program’s recent emphasis on physical, aggressive defense.
A Boost for the Wildcats' Defense
The commitment also underscores Kansas State’s growing appeal in the Texas recruiting market, a region that has traditionally favored in‑state and nearby powerhouses. By securing a player of Price’s caliber, the Wildcats not only improve their national ranking but also signal a shift in recruiting momentum that could attract additional talent.
As the class continues to take shape, the coaching staff remains focused on filling remaining needs, particularly at skill positions and secondary depth. The early signing period in December will provide further clarity on the final composition of the 2027 roster.
