A Promising Start to the 2026‑27 Campaign
The Montana State Women's Basketball team opened its 2026‑27 season with the first practice of the year, a session that set the tone for what coaches and players hope will be another dominant year. Coach Tricia Binford took the opportunity to commend the squad’s energy, attitude and relentless effort, emphasizing that the early work ethic is a strong indicator of the team’s aspirations.
Building on a remarkable stretch that produced 57 combined victories over the past two seasons — the most in back‑to‑back years in Big Sky history — the Bobcats enter the new campaign with high expectations. The reigning Big Sky MVP, Taylee Chirrick, will once again anchor the offense, while returning veterans Addison Harris, Isobel Bunyan, Ella Johnson and Jamison Phillip have taken on leadership roles, guiding the influx of newcomers through drills and team schemes.
Among the newcomers, Braeden Gunlock, Ebele Mbagwu and Madison O'Connor have already begun to mesh with the established roster, while Dylan Philip returned to the court with refreshed vigor after a season‑ending injury. The team also anticipates the arrival of freshman Emma Dongelmans, a prospect who could add further depth as the schedule progresses.
Coach Binford’s vision includes maintaining an undefeated home slate, a feat that would underscore the program’s consistency and reinforce the fan base’s enthusiasm. The coaching staff remains focused on translating early‑season momentum into sustained success throughout the Big Sky schedule.
