2026 Northwest Herald All-Area Baseball Team Highlights
The 2026 Northwest Herald All-Area baseball team showcases the most impactful players from high schools across the region, recognizing those who excelled during a competitive season and helped shape their programs' successes.
Pitchers Lead the Charge
Among the standout arms, senior Devin De Loach of Crystal Lake South posted a 1.58 ERA and 79 strikeouts in 57.1 innings, while senior Colt Zaleski from Prairie Ridge finished a perfect 10‑0 with a 1.50 ERA and 1.16 WHIP. Senior Peyton Mesce of Johnsburg posted a 0.93 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with 73 strikeouts in 53 innings, and senior George Donze of Jacobs went 8‑0 with a 2.12 ERA and a .985 WHIP, underscoring a deep pitching talent pool.
Infield Excellence
Juniors Nate Larson of Huntley and Kaden Wasniewski of McHenry combined strong ERAs with impressive offensive lines, as Larson earned All‑State honors with a 2.18 ERA and 1.13 WHIP, while Wasniewski slashed .394/.551/.758 with 46 RBIs and 12 stolen bases. Senior Liam Schultz of Burlington Central hit .312/.465/.615 with eight homers and 29 RBIs, and senior Brady Kentgen of Marengo batted .429 with a .555 on‑base percentage and 36 RBIs, providing power and on‑base stability.
Outfield and Utility Standouts
Outfield contributors included senior Carson Trivellini of Crystal Lake South, who collected 50 hits with 14 doubles and a .390 average, and senior Gavin Piekos of Prairie Ridge, who posted a .437/.573/.831 line with 31 hits and 31 RBIs. Sophomore Carver Cohn of McHenry slashed .367/.514/.642 with 34 RBIs and 10 stolen bases, while junior Jace Koth of Jacobs hit .439 with a .565 on‑base percentage and 30 stolen bases, adding speed and versatility to the lineup.
