A familiar path, but with new ambitions
Coach Mark Byington, now in his second season, emphasized that the Commodores are building on back‑to‑back NCAA Tournament appearances and are hungry for a deeper run.
Last year Vanderbilt opened the tournament with a victory over No. 12 seed McNeese before falling to Nebraska in the second round, a experience that has fueled the program’s confidence.
The roster will be anchored by point guard Tyler Tanner, who elected to withdraw from the NBA Draft and return for his junior year, providing a steady hand and playmaking presence.
