Transfers and freshmen bring global experience and proven production

The University of California, Los Angeles announced this week that its women’s basketball program will welcome a seven-player signing class for the 2026-27 season.

The class comprises five transfers and two incoming freshmen, each bringing a distinct blend of collegiate success and international exposure.

A Freshmen Class With Global Reach

Lina Jerković, a Slovenian guard, and Somto Okafor, who represented Spain at the U19 World Cup, are expected to add depth and versatility to the backcourt.

Transfer Leaders

Elina Aarnisalo returns to Westwood after a sophomore season at North Carolina where she posted 10.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game.

K.K. Bransford arrives from Notre Dame, where she captained the Fighting Irish and earned All-ACC Academic honors during a four-year tenure.

Addy Brown, formerly of Iowa State, averaged 11.9 points, 8.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists last season and earned multiple watch-list recognitions including the Naismith Trophy and Wooden Award circles.

Bonnie Deas, the second-leading scorer for Arkansas in her freshman year, contributed 10.2 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, while Donovyn Hunter, an All-Big 12 defensive selection, added 10.2 points and strong perimeter defense.

Looking Ahead

Coach Cori Close and assistant Timea Gardiner have emphasized competition for playing time, noting that the new roster blends veteran savvy with fresh energy. The coaching staff believes the mix of experience and youthful talent positions UCLA to contend in the Pac-12 and on the national stage.
