Marist Red Foxes Announce 2026 Men’s Soccer Schedule

Program prepares for a demanding slate of exhibition and conference matches under veteran coach Matt Viggiano

Red Foxes Set for 16‑Game Regular Season and Exhibition Series

Marist University has officially released the 2026 men's soccer schedule, confirming a 16‑match regular season that follows three preseason exhibitions. The Red Foxes will open the campaign with a series of non‑conference fixtures before moving into MAAC play.

Head coach Matt Viggiano, now in his 24th year at the helm, guided the program to an 8‑4‑4 record in 2025 and an eight‑match unbeaten start. His long tenure provides continuity as the team looks to build on that momentum.

A Milestone Ranking and Player Honors

The 2025 season also marked a historic milestone: Marist earned its first national ranking, debuting at No. 20 in the United Soccer Coaches poll and climbing to No. 17. The achievement was underpinned by three All‑MAAC selections — Gijs Verheul, Chris Verheul and Adriano Iannello — who return to lead the attack.

Exhibition matches are set against Syracuse, Monmouth and Army, while the non‑conference slate includes Stony Brook, Air Force, Cornell, Saint Mary's (CA), and San Francisco. These road trips will test the squad early, with a notable trip to California scheduled in the early season.

Conference play features matchups against Mount St. Mary's, Sacred Heart, Iona, Canisius, Fairfield, Merrimack, Rider, Saint Peter's, Manhattan and Siena. The Red Foxes will also host a rematch with Rider, a team they defeated 3‑1 a year ago, adding a narrative of revenge to the schedule.

With a blend of experienced leadership, nationally recognized talent and a demanding itinerary, the 2026 campaign promises to test the Red Foxes while offering opportunities to climb higher in the rankings. The program aims to translate early successes into a sustained push for conference contention.
