Todd Butler, a seasoned coach with a championship pedigree, has accepted an assistant coaching and recruiting coordinator position with the University of Florida baseball program. His arrival adds a wealth of experience and a proven track record of developing elite talent to the Gators' staff.
A Proven Track Record
During his tenure with the Oklahoma Sooners, Butler helped the team capture a national title and was instrumental in recruiting top talent within the SEC over a 17‑year span. The Sooners hit 47 home runs in their final 19 games, including 12 in the last 13 games of the season, and scored 118 runs on 156 hits across 13 NCAA Tournament games.
Butler’s coaching journey spans multiple programs, including stints at McNeese State, the University of Alabama, the University of Arkansas, Wichita State University and the University of Missouri. At each stop he produced winning teams and developed players who earned Major League Baseball draft selections, with the Shockers under his guidance producing 28 MLB draftees and 11 All‑Americans.
A former player at both McNeese State and Oklahoma, Butler still holds the OU record for stolen bases. He began his coaching career as an assistant at Blinn College, where he won the Texas State Junior College championship, and later served as head coach at McNeese State from 2001 to 2003 before moving on to Alabama, Arkansas, Wichita State and Missouri.
His most recent role as Senior Associate Athletics Director at McNeese preceded a return to Oklahoma, and now he brings that blend of experience and strategic insight to Gainesville. Butler’s appointment is expected to bolster Florida’s recruiting classes and elevate the program’s competitiveness on the national stage.
