Sheffield Hallam University has announced a new degree programme that combines professional football training with academic study, developed in partnership with the Inspire Development Academy.
The initiative will be led by UEFA‑licensed coaches and is designed to give participants a clear route into the sport’s workforce after graduation.
Places will be limited to sixty students for the 2027 and 2028 intake, who will be able to enrol at either the University of Sheffield or Sheffield Hallam University depending on their preferences.
The programme welcomes applicants from the United Kingdom and abroad, allowing them to pursue a wide range of academic subjects while receiving elite‑level coaching.
A dual‑focused pathway
By integrating classroom learning with daily training, the course aims to produce well‑rounded professionals ready for the demands of modern football.
Graduates have already entered professional leagues such as the Welsh Premier League, the Swedish second division and the United Counties League, demonstrating the pathway’s effectiveness.
