WVSU Announces 2026 Football Schedule with Six Home Games

Season opener against Chowan, historic matchup with Monroe University headline a packed slate

A bold schedule for the Yellow Jackets

West Virginia State University revealed its 2026 football slate, promising a demanding road ahead that begins with a home opener against Chowan on August 29.

The Yellow Jackets will enjoy six home contests at Dickerson Stadium, a venue that will host the bulk of their non‑conference battles.

The first test comes early, as the team travels to face Robert Morris on September 5 before stepping into Mountain East Conference play at home versus West Virginia Wesleyan.

A highlight of the season will be the first ever meeting with Monroe University on October 24, a matchup that adds a new rival to the schedule.

Homecoming is set for October 3 against West Liberty, and the following week the team will host Concord before turning its attention to Frostburg State on November 7.

The regular season culminates on November 14 with a showdown against the University of Charleston, closing out a campaign that Coach John Pennington described as “exciting” for the program.

Pennington said the schedule reflects the team’s ambition to compete fiercely in every matchup, from the opening clash to the final home game.
