Demons Rally in Extra-Inning Thriller
Washington’s baseball Demons entered a doubleheader against the Fairfield Trojans looking to bounce back after a slow start to the season. The first game slipped away, 13-3, but the second contest turned into a roller-coaster that would test the team’s resolve.
Fairfield jumped out to a 4-0 advantage in the early innings, capitalizing on a pair of RBI singles that put pressure on the Demons’ pitching staff. The early onslaught set the tone, but Washington refused to fold.
Medrano’s Heroics
The turning point arrived in the sixth inning when Washington erupted for nine runs, fueled by a flurry of base hits, four errors by Fairfield, and a decisive three-run homer from Isaac Medrano that swung the momentum.
Mitchell Zieglowsky closed out the game on the mound, striking out two in the seventh to preserve the lead, while Ethan Peebler, Boden Brown and Danny Chenoweth contributed key hits that kept the rally alive.
The final score read 15-12, giving Washington a 7-9 overall record and a 7-4 mark in the Southeast Conference, while Fairfield improved to 14-10 overall and 8-3 in conference play.
