A hometown’s response
Boston Pace, a promising baseball player from Dry Prong, Louisiana, was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor and is currently receiving treatment at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis.
The news quickly spread through the small community, prompting neighbors, friends, and local businesses to organize a series of fundraisers. The first event, a pancake breakfast hosted by First Baptist Church, drew enough volunteers to flip roughly two thousand pancakes, turning a simple meal into a major charitable effort.
Beyond the church gathering, families, friends, and supporters have coordinated additional activities, from charity runs to silent auctions, all aimed at easing the financial burden of medical expenses and travel for Pace’s family.
Looking ahead
As Pace continues his treatment, the community’s commitment remains steadfast, promising to sustain support until he can return to the field he loves.
