Virginia Tech to Compete in 2027 Nashville College Baseball Series

The Hokies will face Cincinnati, Ohio State and Vanderbilt in a four‑team tournament at First Horizon Park.

A New Chapter for the Hokies

Virginia Tech is set to compete in the 2027 Nashville College Baseball Series, a four‑team tournament that will bring together the Hokies, Cincinnati, Ohio State and Vanderbilt. The event is scheduled to take place at First Horizon Park, the home of the Nashville Sounds, and is being organized by REV Entertainment, the same company that runs the College Baseball Classic in Arlington, Texas.

Head coach John Szefc said he is eager to test his squad against a competitive field and to experience a new environment that will serve as an early‑season measuring stick for the program.

Historic Rivalries Return

The matchups will revive several historic rivalries; Virginia Tech has not faced Vanderbilt since 1978 and has not played Ohio State since 1956, while the series will also showcase the Hokies’ long‑standing relationship with Cincinnati, a foe they have dominated with a 39‑14 record.

Jared Schrom, senior vice president of REV Entertainment, highlighted the significance of bringing the tournament to Nashville, noting that the city’s baseball culture and venues make it an ideal host for such a showcase.

Virginia Tech’s previous appearance in the series last season, held in Arlington, saw the Hokies drop all three games against SEC opponents but remain competitive, a showing that coach Szefc believes will pay dividends as the team moves forward.
