A New Era for USA 3×3
Dani Carnegie, a transfer from Georgia to the University of Iowa, has earned a spot on the USA 3×3 National Team that will compete at the 2026 FIBA 3×3 Nations League Americas Conference in Ñuñoa, Chile. Her inclusion comes as the team blends fresh talent with seasoned returners, aiming for a potent offensive attack.
Head coach Jan Jensen acknowledged the difficulty of navigating Carnegie’s absence from the Iowa lineup but praised her adaptability and readiness to contribute on the international stage.
Junior Ava Heiden was also selected but turned down the invitation, citing the physical toll of competing in a demanding tournament.
The Iowa women’s basketball program is gearing up for the 2026‑27 season, welcoming six newcomers while retaining five veterans, and emphasizing a strong, fast‑paced offense.
Carnegie’s collegiate résumé includes a unanimous First Team All‑SEC honor at Georgia, where she averaged 17.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.
Her new teammates span a variety of programs, including transfers from Oklahoma State and Knox College, adding depth and versatility to the roster.
Junior Taylor Stremlow expressed confidence in the team’s offensive progress, noting that the group is already clicking during early practices.
Team USA will face opponents from the Cayman Islands, Puerto Rico and Canada in the upcoming conference, setting the stage for a competitive showdown.
