The 2026 Big 12 Media Days will open on July 7 at The Star in Frisco, Texas, where BYU has been allotted the spotlight on the first day of the two‑day gathering.
A Roster Built for Spotlight
Six Cougars have earned invitations, headlined by LJ Martin, the reigning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, and Bear Bachmeier, who burst onto the scene as the conference’s Freshman Offensive Player of the Year.
Martin returns for his senior season after posting 1,305 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns last year, while Bachmeier guided the team to a 12‑win campaign and threw for 3,033 yards as a freshman.
The group also includes veterans Bruce Mitchell, Isaiah Glasker and Keanu Tanuvasa, who have previously navigated Media Days, while Evan Johnson and the other first‑time attendees round out the delegation.
Head coach Kalani Sitake, now in his 11th year at BYU and the longest‑tenured coach in the league, will join the players on stage, underscoring the program’s rise after a two‑season stretch that produced 23 combined victories.
The event promises to amplify BYU’s profile within the Big 12 and could shape early narratives about championship contention as the league’s media partners spotlight the Cougars’ momentum.
