Texas A&M’s baseball program entered the 2026 postseason with a glaring weakness on the mound. The rotation faltered early, and starter Aiden Sims was sidelined for the remainder of the year, leaving a void that the Aggies struggled to fill.
Adding to the challenge, the team welcomed a new pitching coach, Barry Enright, who arrived from Major League Baseball with a reputation for developing talent and refining mechanics.
A Championship pedigree arrives
Enter Trent Collier, a left‑handed pitcher who helped the Oklahoma Sooners capture the 2026 national title. Collier transferred to College Station after a standout sophomore season in which he posted a 3.80 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP.
He honed his craft at Weatherford College in Weatherford, Texas, before starring at Walnut Grove High School in Prosper, Texas, where he was recognized as one of the state’s top prospects.
Collier’s impact was immediate. In his second appearance for the Aggies, he threw a scoreless inning against North Carolina in the Atlanta Regional, showcasing the poise that helped Oklahoma clinch the championship.
Beyond the stats, Collier has publicly thanked the Aggies’ newest staff members, including assistant coach Nolan Cain, expressing excitement about the direction of the program.
Offensive firepower and overall outlook
The Aggies are not only strengthening their pitching staff. They have also added potent bats such as TCU infielder Jack Bell and Clemson catcher Nate Savoie, both of whom bring power and versatility to the lineup.
Head coach Michael Earley, now in his third year, remains optimistic that these acquisitions will propel the team back to the top of the SEC and beyond.
Another newcomer, Lane Arroyos, joins the bullpen with a reputation for late‑game stability, while the coaching staff blends collegiate and professional expertise to turn the page on last season’s disappointment.
With a revamped rotation, a deeper batting order, and a staff that mixes fresh ideas with proven experience, Texas A&M hopes to build momentum for a promising future under head coach Michael Earley.
