The latest blow to Louisiana State University’s 2027 recruiting class came when five-star offensive lineman Albert Simien announced his commitment to Notre Dame, edging out the Tigers and Texas A&M for the state’s most prized lineman.
A Setback for the Tigers' Offensive Line
Simien, a native of Lake Charles, is listed as the No. 2 offensive lineman and No. 20 overall prospect in the 2027 cycle by Rivals’ industry rankings. His decision leaves LSU without the top recruit from the Pelican State, a spot that has eluded the program in recent weeks.
The setback is part of a broader pattern; LSU has also seen commitments from the state’s top two prospects slip away, with Easton Royal pledged to Texas and Elijah Haven choosing Alabama. Both players were considered pivotal for the Tigers’ front line.
Despite the losses, the Tigers retain four of the ten highest-rated prospects in Louisiana, highlighted by five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson from Ruston, who remains committed to LSU.
Analysts note that the class currently sits at No. 11 nationally and No. 5 within the SEC, a position that could improve if the coaching staff successfully flips Easton Royal, the state’s leading prospect, from his Texas commitment.
