Art Briles, the newly hired head coach of the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds, arrived on campus with a clear mission: to use his decades‑long experience to give every player a realistic shot at the next level.
This summer he is putting that philosophy into practice at Frenship High School in Texas, where he is running a football camp that draws senior prospects from across the region. The event offers extra repetitions, drills and direct exposure to college coaches who are scouting potential recruits.
A Camp With Purpose
Among the campers is Stephenville quarterback Trot Jordan, who sees the session as a chance to add reps, sharpen his game and make a strong impression on college coaches watching from the sidelines.
Briles says he finds particular meaning in giving overlooked players a platform to showcase their abilities, a belief that has guided his career since he began coaching in 1979.
