Witnesses said the brothers blocked the victim's vehicle, used a handgun to strike him and then fired a shot that grazed his ear, causing a traumatic brain bleed.
Police recovered two firearms and a shell casing at the scene, underscoring the seriousness of the assault.
The victim, Luis Ayala‑Aponte, was rushed to a hospital with a gunshot wound to his ear and a serious brain injury, and he now faces a long recovery.
Nicholas Dimarco and Joseph Dimarco were arrested and charged with multiple counts of assault; they are being held on $50,000 bonds and have a preliminary hearing scheduled in the Maricopa County Superior Court.
