Falcons Soar Past No. 7 Oregon State
Air Force baseball posted a 9-6 victory over the seventh‑ranked Oregon State Beavers on Tuesday, snapping a early 2-0 deficit and turning the game into a high‑scoring affair.
The Falcons rallied in the third inning, taking a 4-2 lead after a fielding error by Oregon State’s second baseman opened the door for two runs.
Walker Zapp was the offensive catalyst, delivering a trio of hits that included a bases‑clearing double, while Tripp Garrish added a homer and drove in three runs.
Supporting contributions came from Ben Niednagel and Christian Taylor, each adding an RBI, and Jordan Watkins, who started on the mound, surrendered five runs over 2.1 innings before being relieved.
Trey Rutledge earned the win with 3.2 shutout innings and five strikeouts, and Patrick Davidson closed out the game with his fourth save of the season.
The Beavers briefly seized an 8-5 advantage in the seventh, but Air Force answered with a decisive rally in the top of the ninth to seal a 9-6 final score.
The series continues with a rubber match scheduled for Saturday at Coleman Field, where the Falcons hope to extend their momentum.
