Tournament Highlights
The PCM softball team opened the Roland-Story tournament with a 6-1 victory over Grinnell, a game in which Camden Webb delivered a strong outing, pitching six innings while allowing just one run and striking out six batters. Ila Kuening contributed a home run and two RBI, and Kyra Naeve added a double and an RBI, helping the Mustangs build an early lead.
In the second matchup, PCM edged Bondurant-Farrar 4-2. Webb again anchored the pitching staff, tossing five innings and fanning six while surrendering two runs; the milestone came as he passed the 300‑career strikeout mark. Addi Hudnut and Lillian Knapp each collected doubles, and the team combined for four home runs, underscoring a potent offensive display.
The wins improve the Mustangs to 19-3 on the season, showcasing depth across the lineup with multiple players notching multiple hits. Contributions from Libby Winters, who recorded a one‑inning save with two strikeouts, and from Tori Lindsay, Hadley Millang and Lillian Knapp, each finishing with two hits, highlighted the breadth of talent on the roster.
The PCM baseball team, meanwhile, fell 7-4 to Roland-Story despite outhitting the Hawks 8-3. A 4-3 lead in the top of the sixth evaporated when Roland-Story scored four runs in the bottom of the inning. Izaac Bagby pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowing three earned runs and striking out five, while Jensson Hood took the loss after surrendering four runs in 2 2/3 innings.
The baseball squad, now 15-6, will conclude the day with two home games against CAM and Woodbury Central, aiming to rebound from the setback. Both the softball and baseball teams are scheduled to play later today, with the softball side set to continue its tournament run and the baseball team looking to bounce back on its home field.
