UCLA basketball coach Mick Cronin announced that he has secured three new commitments for the 2026 recruiting class, marking the first substantial haul after a largely empty 2025 cycle.
The incoming players join a roster that already features bench contributors such as forward Joe Philion, as well as developmental guards Javonte Floyd and Gunars Grinvalds, who are expected to provide depth off the bench.
A Guard‑Centric Future for the Bruins
At the same time, the program is keeping an eye on the 2027 market, where 5‑11 point guard Kevin Savage has emerged as a top‑50 prospect nationally and is currently weighing UCLA among a final six that also includes Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Purdue.
Savage’s game is built on efficient decision‑making and confident ball handling; during the recent Adidas 3SSB Circuit he posted averages of 20.8 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.8 steals, underscoring his ability to manage a tempo while remaining undersized.
If he ultimately chooses UCLA, Savage could compete directly for the starting point‑guard slot, a position that may open should senior Trent Perry decide to test the NBA draft, giving the Bruins a potential infusion of fresh talent.
