Knoxville, Tennessee – The Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame welcomed a new class of inductees on Saturday, honoring a group that has shaped the sport for decades.
A Legacy of Excellence
Candace Parker, a two‑time WNBA MVP and Olympic gold medalist, rose to prominence by leading the University of Tennessee to two national championships before adding three WNBA titles and a second MVP award to her résumé.
Elena Delle Donne, who starred at the University of Delaware and earned three Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year honors, was selected second overall in the 2013 WNBA Draft and later captured two MVP awards and an Olympic gold medal with Team USA.
The ceremony also recognized Amaya Valdemoro, whose contributions helped the Houston Comets secure three consecutive championships, and Isabelle Fijalkowski, a pioneer who dominated French national basketball and became the all‑time leading scorer for the French women’s team.
Cheryl Reeve, a four‑time Coach of the Year and two‑time Executive of the Year, guided the Minnesota Lynx to four titles and later led the U.S. national team to a gold medal in 2024 as head coach.
Kim Muhl, who retired after 37 years as a high school coach in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, amassed over a thousand victories, while Doris Burke transitioned from early 1990s Big East commentary to become ESPN’s first full‑time NBA analyst.
Barbara Kennedy‑Dixon, remembered as both a player and longtime administrator at Clemson, rounds out the class, embodying the administrative spirit that continues to drive women’s basketball forward.
