Sean Keys Earns First MLB Start with Toronto Blue Jays

The Bucknell alum, drafted 125th overall, steps into the lineup against the Texas Rangers

Sean Keys, a former Bucknell University standout, was summoned to the major leagues on Saturday, earning a spot in the Toronto Blue Jays' opening day roster.

A Milestone for a Bison Alum

The 125th overall pick in the 2024 draft, Keys will make his debut against the Texas Rangers, slated to start at first base and bat sixth in today's game at 3:07 p.m.

His collegiate career at Bucknell was nothing short of spectacular; he posted a .358 batting average, a .476 on‑base percentage and a .711 slugging percentage over three seasons, establishing himself as the program's all‑time leader in slugging and ranking among the top few in other key categories.

After dominating the Double‑A New Hampshire Fisher Cats, he was promoted to the Buffalo Bisons on June 5, where in just 18 games he compiled 18 hits, seven home runs and 20 RBI, highlighted by a walk‑off homer just a week earlier.

The call‑up also places Keys among a short list of Bucknell alumni who have reached the majors, joining former pitcher Matt Daley and Connor Van Hoose, and it marks the first time a Bison has appeared in an MLB game since Daley's stint with the Rockies and Yankees a decade ago.
