Alaska Solstice Football Camp Expands Its Reach

From a handful of linemen to a statewide showcase of talent

A Camp That Has Outgrown Its Roots

The Alaska Solstice Football Camp, held each summer at West Anchorage High School, has transformed from a modest gathering of fourteen linemen eleven years ago into a sprawling event that now draws more than three hundred teenagers.

What began as a niche clinic for offensive and defensive linemen has evolved into a multi‑position camp that showcases over a dozen former Alaska football stars, many of whom have carved out careers in college or the NFL.

Mentors on the Field

This year’s edition featured ambassadors such as Edefuan Ulofoshio, a third‑year inside linebacker with the Cleveland Browns, and Chris Kuper, a former NFL offensive lineman who now coaches for the Philadelphia Eagles. Both men bring personal stories of perseverance and expertise to the field.

Ulofoshio says that watching youngsters experience the game firsthand can spark a belief that hard work, the right mindset and solid support can propel them to the highest levels of football.

For many participants, the camp is more than skill development; it is a glimpse into a future where Alaskan athletes are increasingly on the radar of college scouts and professional programs.
