Recreational vehicles line the gravel, while colorful tents dot the landscape, providing shelter, food and a place to gather. Portable showers and restroom units are the only amenities, and the use of off‑road vehicles is prohibited, giving the area a more subdued, family‑friendly vibe compared to earlier editions of the weekend.
Despite the quieter setup, the spirit of celebration remains high. Campers engage in a variety of games, pose in oversized inflatable costumes and share meals with fellow enthusiasts, turning the lot into a lively social hub.
Many fans travel from distant locales, including Gresham in Oregon and Carson City in Nevada, to join the festivities. The stay can extend through Monday, though a sizable portion departs immediately after the marquee race on Sunday.
