Kanon Catchings, a junior forward from Brownsburg, Indiana, has been selected to attend the Jayson Tatum Elite Camp in Las Vegas, a prestigious gathering that brings together the nation’s most promising basketball talents. The invitation follows a season in which Catchings helped the Georgia Bulldogs secure a berth in the NCAA Tournament and emerged as one of the SEC’s most dynamic players.
A breakout year in the SEC
During the previous college season, Catchings averaged 11.6 points per game overall and increased that figure to 13.7 points in SEC play, shooting 45.4 percent from three‑point range and leading the league in that category. He started 32 of 33 games, posted 18 double‑figure scoring outputs, and recorded a career‑high 32 points in an upset of No. 16 Alabama. His performances earned him SEC Player of the Week honors and helped cement his reputation as an explosive scorer.
The camp, scheduled for June 30 through July 3, will be overseen by NBA star Jayson Tatum, a six‑time All‑Star who recently led the Boston Celtics to a championship and captured Olympic gold in 2020 and 2024. Participants will train under Tatum and a roster of top instructors, gaining exposure to elite coaching and networking with peers who share the same ambition to elevate their game.
Catchings’ rise reflects a broader trend of players who excel in conference play and then leverage those performances into national platforms. His consistent scoring, combined with his ability to stretch the floor, has drawn attention from scouts and coaches alike, positioning him as a key prospect heading into the next phase of his development.
