The Rowan County American Legion baseball team has been on a roll this season, posting an immaculate 11-0 record that has placed them at the top of the Southern Division in Area 3. Their dominance on the diamond has drawn attention from rivals and fans alike.
A recent shuffle in the schedule has moved two of their upcoming games with Kannapolis to June 30 and July 1. The adjustments come as the team prepares for a grueling stretch of five consecutive games against some of the division’s strongest opponents.
A packed schedule ahead
With the regular season winding down, the squad will travel across the region to face teams in Davidson County, Union County, Wingate, Mooresville, Matthews, Wadesboro, Mocksville, Randolph County, High Point and other neighboring communities. Each contest is expected to be a tight battle, testing the team’s depth and resilience.
Adding to the excitement, the Area 3 All-Star Game is slated for Finch Field on the Fourth of July, giving the community a chance to see the league’s top talent showcase their skills in a festive setting.
Playoff action is set to commence on July 6, with the first round configured as a best-of-three series. The stakes will only increase as the team looks to extend its unbeaten streak into the postseason.
Postseason destinations
If the team advances, the state tournament will be hosted by the Gaston Braves at Sims Legion Park from July 25 through July 29. The event promises a high level of competition and a chance for Rowan County to defend its regional title.
Following the state tournament, the Southeast Regional will take place in Cherryville at Fraley Field and Sims Legion Park from August 5 to August 9. Competing against teams from across the southeast, the Rowan squad will aim to secure a berth in the national spotlight.
The ultimate prize awaits in August, when the American Legion World Series is scheduled to be held at Shelby’s Keeter Stadium from August 13 through August 18. Representing their region on a national stage would be a historic milestone for the club and its supporters.
