Iowa Athletics to Install New Connor Sports Court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena

The aging parquet will be replaced with a maple wood surface from the NCAA Houston Regional Elite Eight, slated for May installation.

A New Playing Surface for Carver-Hawkeye

Iowa Athletics announced that it has acquired the official court used in the NCAA Houston Regional Elite Eight, bringing a fresh, competition-ready surface to the Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The move comes as the arena’s existing parquet has begun to show the wear of years of play, prompting the decision to replace it with a brand-new installation.

The court, produced by Connor Sports, is crafted from premium maple wood and meets the exacting standards set by the NCAA for its regional tournaments. Its acquisition signals a commitment to maintaining a high-performance environment for Hawkeye basketball fans and athletes alike.

Installation is scheduled to begin on May 18 and will run through June 6, during which the arena will be temporarily closed for the swap. The old floor, which was last replaced in 2016, will be carefully dismantled and preserved for use in commemorative memorabilia, allowing supporters to own a piece of the arena’s history.

University officials noted that the upgrade aligns with broader efforts to enhance fan experience and facility standards across the athletics department. By partnering with Connor Sports, Iowa Athletics hopes to set a benchmark for future upgrades across its venues.
