The Oklahoma City Thunder hosted a press conference on Friday to formally introduce their newest acquisition, point guard Bennett Stirtz, a former Iowa Hawkeye who has already begun to make an impression on the franchise.
Stirtz’s draft rights were dealt to Oklahoma City on draft night, moving from the Memphis Grizzlies, who had selected him with the 16th overall pick, in a transaction that underscored the team’s intent to reshape its backcourt.
Summer League Debut
Joining Stirtz on stage were Michigan’s 6‑foot‑10 forward Aday Mara and Kentucky’s guard Otega Oweh, both of whom were also part of the Thunder’s rookie contingent, adding depth and versatility to the young squad.
The trio will soon test their chemistry in the NBA Summer League, with the Thunder’s inaugural game scheduled for July 4 against the Grizzlies at 2 p.m. Central Time, a matchup that promises to showcase the club’s emerging talent.
