A final season of promise
Jake Maikkula, a Colorado native, grew up in Sedalia before making his mark on the West Coast at Stanford University. After a redshirt year in 2022, he began to carve out a role as a reliable interior lineman, culminating in a standout 2023 campaign where he started eight games and earned the team’s second‑highest pass‑blocking grade from Pro Football Focus.
The following year, Maikkula’s consistency shone through as he was recognized as Stanford’s top pass‑blocking offensive lineman and earned a spot on the All‑ACC Academic Football Team, underscoring his blend of on‑field skill and scholarly achievement.
In 2025, his first season with the Oklahoma Sooners, Maikkula secured the starting center position and demonstrated durability by allowing just two sacks across the schedule, a testament to his protection of the quarterback and command of the offensive line.
Now, as a redshirt senior, he returns for his third season as a starter, eager to mentor younger linemen and help the Sooners push for a strong finish. The center role remains pivotal for Oklahoma’s offense, and Maikkula embraces the responsibility of leading the unit both on and off the field.
