On a bright June weekend, Team Viera took to the rink at the Space Coast Iceplex for the Summer Sled Challenge, a 3‑on‑3 sled hockey tournament that draws together players, volunteers and supporters from across Brevard County.
The competition was organized to benefit Space Coast Sled Hockey, a nonprofit that provides adaptive athletes with physical disabilities the chance to experience the sport, build confidence and stay active.
Among the participants was U.S. Paralympic gold‑medalist Brett Bolton, who joined the Viera roster and used his presence to inspire teammates and onlookers alike.
The Viera Company, a longtime sponsor of local initiatives, fielded a squad that included Todd Pokrywa, Joe Infantino, David Clark and Kyle Smith, showcasing a blend of experience and youthful energy.
Beyond the on‑ice action, the event served as a fundraiser, channeling proceeds toward equipment, ice time, travel and program development for the nonprofit’s growing roster of athletes.
