Maddox Monsour, a Texas-born outfielder, has pledged to join North Carolina State’s baseball program for the 2026 season, adding a highly touted recruit to a roster that has been reshaped by recent departures.
A Recruit With Elite Rankings
The 6‑foot‑2 prospect arrived in Raleigh after a single year with the Texas Longhorns, where he posted a modest slashline of .185/.267/.278. Despite the limited production, Perfect Game had previously graded him a 9.5 out of 10 and placed him at No. 228 overall among high school players nationwide. He also held the No. 47 spot among outfielders nationally and was ranked the sixth‑best outfielder in Georgia for the 2025 class.
Coaches have noted that Monsour’s biggest hurdle at the collegiate level is consistency at the plate, a pattern that has manifested in elevated strikeout rates. Still, his athletic tools and pedigree suggest he could develop into a reliable everyday outfielder if he can refine his approach.
A Competitive Outfield Landscape
Monsour will vie for a starting spot alongside a wave of fresh talent, including top prospects Gunnar Alm and Landon Church, who are expected to push for playing time. The competition is amplified by the departure of veteran outfielders Dalton Bargo and Brayden Fraasman, leaving vacancies that the new transfer class hopes to fill.
The Pack9’s transfer class, which also features Hunter Warren, Andrew Raymond, Chet Lax, McCall Biemiller and Jesse Gutierrez, represents a coordinated effort to rebuild the outfield depth. With the addition of Monsour and the incoming prospects, the coaching staff believes the team can maintain offensive vigor while integrating younger players.
