Sand Soccer Tournament Draws Crowds to Wildwood
Wildwood, New Jersey, became the epicenter of a unique sporting spectacle this weekend as a massive sand soccer tournament unfolded along its iconic shoreline, attracting kids and young adults from across the East Coast.
Tournament Director Mike Granigan explained that the event featured 88 fields split into two sections, catering to players from age eight all the way up to adult leagues, ensuring a broad appeal across skill levels.
Participants and spectators traveled from throughout the East Coast, drawn by the novelty of competing on sand and the festive atmosphere that blended competition with beachside camaraderie.
Organizers also announced that the popular Cape Express More Beach Blast will return on July 18‑19, promising another weekend of high‑energy matches and community activities.
Local vendors reported a surge in sales, and families gathered on the dunes to cheer on their favorite teams, underscoring the tournament’s role in strengthening regional ties and promoting healthy recreation.
