A Camp With Purpose
Jazmine Jones, a former WNBA player and FAMU DRS state champion, returned to her hometown to run a basketball camp for local girls aged 12 to 18, using the sport as a vehicle for teaching both athletic skills and life lessons.
The camp spanned Saturday and Sunday, operating from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, and was designed to give participants a structured environment to hone their game while learning the value of hard work, humility, and discipline.
Jones expressed a clear vision for the future, stating that she plans to expand the program to include boys and grow its overall size, reflecting her desire to reach a broader audience of young athletes in the community.
Beyond skill development, Jones hopes the camp will instill leadership qualities in the participants, encouraging them to carry the lessons learned onto the court and into other aspects of their lives.
