The Rowan County American Legion baseball team continued its remarkable run, posting a 6-4 win over the Queen City Mustangs that stretched the streak to 18 consecutive victories.
Sixth‑Inning Heroics
A four‑run burst in the sixth inning flipped a 3-2 deficit into a 6-4 lead. Jayven Parks delivered the decisive two‑run single on the first pitch he saw, capping a rally that featured key contributions from Cole Blevins, Brody Pope and Cam Williamson.
On the mound, starter Connor Park was lifted after a solid first five innings, with Jacob Prevette coming in to steady the ship. Maddox Moore then tossed the fifth and sixth frames, earning the win, while Kendal Sifford closed out the seventh for the save.
The Mustangs had jumped out early, scoring three runs in the first inning highlighted by Drew Bria’s two‑run homer. Gaige Scruggs had put Rowan on the board with a sacrifice fly in the second, and Russ Berger held the lineup scoreless for five innings before the breakthrough.
Rowan’s offense also benefited from a double by Carter Durant and a series of baserunners that loaded the bags in the sixth, setting the stage for Parks’ game‑changing hit. The team will look to keep the momentum alive on Monday when it hosts Union County, another strong opponent.
