Post 5 Freshman Baseball Team Falls 10-2 to Pirates U15 at Battle High School

A early lead evaporates as the Pirates rally with three-run innings to secure the win

The Jefferson City Post 5 Freshman baseball team entered the diamond at Battle High School with a promising start, plating two runs in the top of the first inning. Caden Pleus and Hayden Kallenbach led off with singles, and Aiden Howard followed with a timely hit that brought Pleus across home plate.

Luke Jaegers added a run on a fielder’s choice by Brayden Lambert, giving Post 5 a 2-0 edge before the Pirates answered in the bottom of the first with three runs of their own.

The Pirates continued to pull away, adding three runs in both the third and fifth innings and capping the scoring with a single run in the sixth. Their steady offense overwhelmed the Post 5 pitchers, who struggled to contain the opposition’s rally.

Braxton Bailey managed the only other hit for Post 5, but the team’s early lead slipped away as the Pirates’ multi‑inning bursts proved decisive.

Key Performances

Caden Pleus and Hayden Kallenbach set the tone with leadoff singles, while Aiden Howard’s RBI single drove in the first run. Brayden Lambert’s sacrifice play brought home Luke Jaegers, highlighting a collaborative effort early in the game.

For the Pirates, the consistent three‑run bursts in the first, third and fifth innings demonstrated a disciplined approach at the plate, while their defense held Post 5 to just two runs over six innings.

Despite the loss, the Freshman squad showed flashes of promise, and the experience will likely inform future matchups as the season progresses.
