The Jefferson City Post 5 Freshman baseball team entered the diamond at Battle High School with a promising start, plating two runs in the top of the first inning. Caden Pleus and Hayden Kallenbach led off with singles, and Aiden Howard followed with a timely hit that brought Pleus across home plate.
Luke Jaegers added a run on a fielder’s choice by Brayden Lambert, giving Post 5 a 2-0 edge before the Pirates answered in the bottom of the first with three runs of their own.
The Pirates continued to pull away, adding three runs in both the third and fifth innings and capping the scoring with a single run in the sixth. Their steady offense overwhelmed the Post 5 pitchers, who struggled to contain the opposition’s rally.
Braxton Bailey managed the only other hit for Post 5, but the team’s early lead slipped away as the Pirates’ multi‑inning bursts proved decisive.
