High School On SI Iowa has launched a statewide poll to crown the Class 3A baseball midseason player of the year, inviting fans, coaches and alumni to weigh in on the standout performers who are shaping the season.
The Iowa High School Athletic Association will host the state tournament beginning July 20, with first‑round games scheduled in Cedar Rapids and Carroll, providing a showcase for the nominees and a chance for teams to vie for the ultimate title.
Among the five candidates, Kamden Jorgensen leads the pack with a .553 batting average, eight home runs and 24 RBI, while Elijah Scott isn’t far behind at .471 with six homers and 35 RBI. Brett Harris brings a .442 average, 22 RBI and 20 runs scored, JP Elbert combines pitching dominance — 26 strikeouts in 15 innings — with a .414 average and 32 RBI, and Christopher Meyer rounds out the list at .528 with 32 RBI and 35 runs scored.
Voting is open to the public and will close on July 6 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time, giving the community just a few days to make their voices heard before the tournament gets underway.
