Chris Washington Jr., a 6‑foot‑9 forward from Providence Christian Academy, has been selected as The Daily News Journal’s All‑Sports Male Athlete of the Year for the 2025‑26 season. The honor spotlights a career defined by championships, individual accolades and a commitment to excellence on the court.
A season of milestones
During his senior year Washington guided the academy to a second consecutive Division II‑A state title, averaging 18.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, one block and 1.3 steals per game. He was crowned Mr. Basketball for his classification and earned state tournament MVP honors, capping a run that included 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in his high school career.
Ranked as the top prospect in Tennessee for the class of 2026, Washington signed with the University of Tennessee’s basketball program, bringing a four‑star rating and high expectations to the Volunteers. His recruitment was accompanied by praise for his athleticism, leadership and work ethic from PCA athletic director Tara James.
