Chris Washington Jr., a senior standout at Providence Christian Academy, has been selected as The Daily News Journal’s All‑Sports Male Athlete of the Year for the 2025‑26 season. The honor recognizes a career defined by dominance on the court and leadership off it.
A Champion’s Path
Under Washington’s direction, the PCA Knights captured back‑to‑back TSSAA Division II‑A state championships. He was named state tournament MVP and earned player‑of‑the‑year honors on the DNJ’s all‑area basketball team.
The 6‑foot‑5 forward closed his senior season averaging 18.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, one block and 1.3 steals per game. Over his high school tenure he amassed 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds, cementing his place among the program’s all‑time greats.
Ranked as the No. 1 player in Tennessee for the 2026 class, Washington signed with the University of Tennessee. He will join head coach Rick Barnes’s roster as a four‑star recruit, continuing his development at the next level.
