Westcliff University announced the hiring of Sierra Vaglica as the new head coach of its women's basketball program, tapping a figure whose career has been defined by resilience and an intimate knowledge of Southern California basketball.
Vaglica's journey to the sidelines began on the courts of Woodbridge High School, where she emerged as a top guard before a torn ACL in her sophomore year threatened to derail her playing ambitions. After navigating a second ACL tear at Vanguard University, she reinvented her game as a shooting guard, earning a reputation for sharp perimeter shooting and strategic poise.
Building a Culture of Trust
Now at Westcliff, Vaglica brings a philosophy centered on trust, communication, depth and daily consistency. She stresses recruiting athletes who are competitive, coachable and team‑oriented, and she aims to develop players into better teammates and individuals, measuring success beyond the scoreboard.
