A Hall of Fame Induction
Former Chadron State College standout Joe Planansky is set to be welcomed into the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame on September 4 in Lincoln, joining a select group of athletes whose contributions have shaped the state’s gridiron legacy.
Planansky earned his place among the program’s greats as a four‑year starter and three‑time First‑Team Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference selection, amassing 154 receptions for 1,877 yards during the early 1990s. His athletic prowess extended beyond the gridiron, as he captured the Class C 189‑pound wrestling championship at the state tournament and later scored a touchdown in the Shrine Bowl the summer after his senior year of high school.
After completing his collegiate career, Planansky turned to a different kind of physical care, establishing himself as a chiropractor in Fort Collins, Colorado. His transition from player to practitioner reflects a continued commitment to health and performance, values he honed during his dual‑sport collegiate experience.
He will become the ninth individual with ties to Chadron State to be enshrined in the Hall, a testament to the college’s enduring impact on Nebraska football. Joining him are coaches Ross Armstrong and Brad Smith, as well as alumni such as LaVerne McKelvey, Danny Woodhead, Lonnie Wickard, Milford “Dub” Miller, Brad Fults and Casey Beran, each of whom have left indelible marks on the sport.
The induction ceremony will take place at the Hall’s Lincoln venue, where family, teammates and fans will celebrate Planansky’s legacy. His story underscores how athletic excellence can evolve into community service, inspiring future generations of student‑athletes who aspire to follow a similar path from collegiate stardom to professional contribution.
