15th Annual Slippery Rock Men's Basketball Golf Classic Set for August 7
The university will host the 15th edition of its popular Men's Basketball Golf Classic on August 7 at the scenic Lake Arthur Golf Club in Butler, Pennsylvania. The tournament brings together alumni, supporters, and community members for a day of golf, competition, and fundraising in support of the SRU men's basketball program.
Participants can sign up for $140 per golfer, or reserve a foursome for $560, a package that covers green fees, equipment, meals and entry into a series of contests. The event promises a robust prize pool, highlighted by flat‑screen televisions for the top three teams and additional awards for longest drive, closest‑to‑the‑pin and putting contests.
Sponsorship and Fundraising Opportunities
Local businesses and corporate partners have the chance to sponsor holes, with packages ranging from $100 for a single‑hole sponsorship up to $4,000 for the Platinum Title Sponsor Package. All proceeds from registration fees, raffles, a 50/50 draw and silent auction will be directed to the SRU men's basketball program, helping to fund scholarships, equipment and travel.
Coach Ian Grady, head coach of the SRU men's basketball team, emphasized the event's role in building community support. "This golf classic is more than a fundraiser; it’s a way for fans to stay connected with our program and contribute to its future success," Grady said.
