The night of last Friday ended in tragedy when a 16‑year‑old student was shot outside Pearl Cohn High School, the site of a recent football game that had drawn players, families and fans.
A Community in Mourning
Cameron Frierson, a senior who dreamed of running his own HVAC business while working two jobs, was remembered by friends and classmates for his love of football, cars and fashion.
His mother, Brittany Frierson, stood amid the shock and grief, pleading with anyone who saw the incident to come forward and share what they know about the white sedan with tinted windows that fled the scene.
Remembering a Young Dreamer
A balloon release is scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m. in Watkins Park, where the community will gather to honor Cameron’s memory and celebrate the life of a young man who was never in trouble.
The family is also establishing a scholarship in Cameron’s name, aiming to keep his aspirations alive and provide opportunities for other students who share his drive.
The incident has reignited discussions about gun violence and the need for heightened community awareness, urging neighbors, classmates and local leaders to look out for one another and to speak up when they have information that could bring justice.
