At just 16, Brandon Velez has already become a cornerstone of the New England Revolution Academy, where he serves as co‑captain and a regular starter in the club’s elite youth setup.
His rise was cemented when the U‑16 side of the United States national team summoned him twice, a testament to his technical skill and maturity beyond his years.
A Balancing Act
Velez’s schedule is a study in discipline: mornings begin with on‑field drills, followed by strength and conditioning, then classroom work at the Center of Excellence in Lawrence, where he pursues his high school diploma.
He recently navigated a torn meniscus in his right knee, undergoing surgery that has kept him sidelined for several months, but medical staff project that he will be competition‑ready by the close of July.
Off the pitch, his upbeat demeanor and love for the game shine through, influencing teammates and coaches alike.
International Exposure
During the past season he faced clubs from Spain, Sweden and Qatar while competing in Spain, an experience that broadened his tactical perspective and reinforced his adaptability.
The academy’s slate includes roughly 40 matches across two leagues — MLS Next and MLS Next Flex — providing a rigorous testing ground against top youth talent.
Beyond club duties, Velez balances travel to venues such as Foxborough, Massachusetts, and Queens, New York, as part of regional showcases that attract scouts from professional and collegiate programs.
