A 20‑year‑old man from Watauga, Texas, now faces aggravated assault charges after allegedly bludgeoning a neighbor with a baseball bat, causing serious head trauma.
The assault unfolded on Wednesday in the 6500 block of Ridglea Drive, where the victim was discovered in the driveway, badly injured and unable to recount the attack clearly.
Emergency responders transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where doctors treated the severe injuries. Police quickly determined that the suspect, identified as Anthony Curtis Jr., had fled the scene and taken refuge in a neighboring home.
The North Richland Hills Regional SWAT Team was called in to assist with the apprehension. After a brief standoff, officers located Curtis inside the residence and recovered the bat believed to be the weapon.
Curtis was taken into custody without incident and subsequently booked on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He remains jailed pending further court proceedings.
