The Daily Local News today releases its 2026 All-Area Baseball Teams, a tribute to the season’s most electrifying performances across the region’s high schools. From dominant pitchers to clutch hitters, the selections reflect a year where skill, resilience, and teamwork converged on the diamond.
Rising Stars of the Diamond
Among the first‑team honorees, Jack Herbein of Malvern Prep dazzled with a 7‑1 record, a 1.32 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 37 innings, while Collin Romanczuk posted a perfect 6‑0 slate, a 0.50 ERA and 46 strikeouts over 42 frames. AJ Calio from West Chester Rustin limited opponents to just one earned run while fanning 56 batters, and Adam Clark of Coatesville emerged as one of District 1’s top defensive catchers, batting .324 with 12 runs and 18 RBI.
The second team and honorable mentions also featured a parade of standout performers. Luke Dovidio of Downingtown West hit .326 with 24 hits and 17 RBI, propelling his club to the PIAA 6A playoffs, while Jake Downie batted .414 with 26 runs and 15 RBI, adding nine doubles to his arsenal. Brady Housnell of Great Valley posted a .433 average with three homers, and Logan Nelson of Avon Grove combined a .438 average with 28 hits and six doubles, earning praise for his defensive brilliance at shortstop.
Other notable contributors included Shane Monaghan of Coatesville, who hit .509 with 22 RBI and four homers, and Owen Rozzi from West Chester East, who collected 26 hits and 15 RBI. Jackson Roche of West Chester Rustin posted a .441 average and a .475 slugging percentage, while Nuge Willard of Coatesville added 20 runs and 17 RBI. Dan Kershner of Downingtown West contributed 26 runs and 19 RBI, rounding out a deep pool of talent.
Coach of the Year: Brad Harkins' Resilient Leadership
Brad Harkins of West Chester Rustin was named Coach of the Year after guiding his team to the PIAA 5A Semifinals despite a roster riddled with injuries. His ability to adapt strategies and keep the squad competitive throughout a grueling schedule underscored the season’s most inspiring narrative.
