The 2026 girls soccer season in the Morning Sun coverage area concluded with a wave of accolades, spotlighting the region’s most dynamic talents.
Mt. Pleasant’s Audrey Lange was crowned Morning Sun Player of the Year, her leadership steering the Oilers to a district championship and cementing her status as a pivotal force.
Scoring Leaders Light Up the Field
Ivy Russell of Clare erupted for 30 goals, accounting for nearly all of her team’s 33 tallies, while Audrina Fillingham added 17 goals and seven assists for Mt. Pleasant.
Adalie Smith and Lucy Keyes contributed 15 and 14 goals respectively, pairing with solid midfield production from Natalie Clark, who dished out a team‑high nine assists.
Ella Grinnell and Phoebe Ochoa each found the net nine and two times, while Riley Skinner’s three goals and two assists showcased versatility across the Chippewa Hills attack.
Defensively, Savannah Beery anchored Alma’s back line, Hayleigh Slater made 171 saves in her debut season, and Kylie Hutchins helped the team register twelve shutouts.
In goal, Mehgan Prussner posted a 0.68 goals‑against average with twelve clean sheets, underscoring the depth of talent between the posts.
The collective performances not only highlighted individual brilliance but also reflected the growing competitiveness of programs from Clare, Mt. Pleasant, Alma, Chippewa Hills and Ithaca, all of which will look to build on this momentum in the coming seasons.
